In May-June 2008, the Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry (DAFF) undertook a public consultation exercise about the future management of the Sulby Claddagh.
The resulting feedback from the public, Local Authorities and other interest groups has helped the Department in formulating a series of new proposals for the site.
The Department has made a number of changes to the Byelaws and general management of the Sulby Claddagh over recent years.
Unfortunately, concerns continue to arise over the increased level of camping and its effect on use of the land for picnics and similar family recreation.
It has become evident that further action is needed in order to protect the site for the benefit of future generations of visitors and neighbours of this special place.
The Department is now seeking further views and a paper showing the Department’s latest proposals can be obtained by clicking here, calling the Forestry Division Office at St. Johns on 801263 or calling in to Rose House, 51-59 Circular Road, Douglas.
The Department would welcome your comments which should be addressed to Mr. R.A. Sidebottom, Director of Forestry, Amenity and Lands, Hope Road, St. Johns, IM4 3AS.
The closing date for responses is 7th September 2009.
Responses should be marked as confidential if you do not want them to subsequently be published.
