Inquests on Belmont Terrace and Southern 100 deaths

by isleofman.com 23rd July 2009

An inquest will this morning hear about a man whose body was found in a flat in Belmont Terrace, Douglas during the morning of May 5.

Police initially treated the death of 49 year-old Bernard Alan Jenkinson as suspicious, but two days later, following a post mortem, said that was no longer the case.

The property in which the flat was located, number 13, was sealed of for a time, with a police officer standing guard outside, while the initial investigations were carried out.

This afternoon, coroner Michael Moyle will hear evidence on the circumstances surrounding the death of 43 year-old Southern 100 sidecar competitor Philip Dongworth.

He died in an accident at Ballanorris during the Tuesday evening practice session of last week's meeting.

Mr Dongworth, from Worcester, was airlifted to Noble's Hospital after the incident, but passed away during the night.
