Isle of Man Mapping Party

by isleofman.com 21st July 2009

In two weeks time local mapping guru Dan Karran is planning another mapping party on the Isle of Man.

The aim of the exercise is to add more detail to the map of the Isle of Man that is already evolving as part of the global OpenStreetMap project. The aim of the project is to build a map that anybody can re-use.

Dan told isleofman.com 'We have already got pretty good coverage of roads and streets, but we would like to improve what we have in terms of points of interest such as historic sites and museums, accommodation providers, restaurants, cafes and other amenities that could be of interest to people using the map.'

The current Isle of Man map can be viewed at www.openstreetmap.org.

If you're interested in making or using maps of the Island and would like more information, please contact Dan Karran on dan @ karran.net, or join in the mapping party on 1st August, starting at the Java Lounge on Duke Street, Douglas at 10am.
