PDMS Enlists First Graduate Trainee

by isleofman.com 21st July 2009

PDMS, the Island's largest software development firm, has appointed Kris McElhinney as a graduate trainee.

Kris will have the opportunity to develop in-depth knowledge about the business working in various different areas of the company.

'This is a great opportunity,' said Kris.  'Learning about various parts of the company will provide a unique opportunity to develop my skill set and gain an understanding of the IT industry. It's a great platform for a long career with PDMS.'

Kris attended Ramsey Grammar School before venturing abroad and to gain a BA in Political Science and History at the National University of Ireland, Cork.

He went on to achieve a MBS in management information systems (MIS) and managerial accounting from the same university.

During his time at university, Kris played an active role in the Students' Union where he took up the full time positions of Communications officer, President and finally achieving election to the National Union (USI) in 2008.

'I am very proud to welcome the first graduate trainee into the PDMS fold,' said Chris Gledhill, Managing Director at PDMS.

'A strong team is paramount to our success, and it is important we invest in our people. Graduates provide a source of bright, fresh talent and our new trainee programme is designed to allow them to develop their talent and discover their vocation. I am confident Kris will be a great asset to us.'

Kris was also the first candidate to be recruited by PDMS on the www.manxgarduates.im, the Isle of Man's own careers and networking portal.

The site, which was created by PDMS, is a Department of Trade and Industry initiative designed to connect local employers with Manx graduates and other skilled Manx individuals who are living abroad and looking for suitable employment on the Island.

Since its launch earlier this year, 49 employers and over 610 individuals have signed up.

Kris has varied interests that keep him busy outside of work. He is a keen follower of rugby, enjoys reading, swimming, the cinema as well as keeping up with current affairs.
