Praise from UK wildlife conservationist

A conservation expert from the United Kingdom has been singing the Isle of Man's praises over measures to encourage and protect birds.

Hugo Straker, of the Game and Wildlife Conservation Trust, has been on the Island to advise the Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry.

In particular, he has been concentrating on mitigating the environmental consequences of expanding the Cringle Quarry in the south of the Island.

But Mr Straker says the Isle of Man is already doing a lot to help red grouse and wading birds:
