An accident which killed a TT competitor in this year's Senior Race may have been caused by a nail.
Tests on 55-year-old John Crellin's bike revealed the back tyre had been punctured by one shortly before his crash, near the Mountain Mile on June 12.
Mr Crellin died of multiple injuries, particularly to his head.
A verdict of death by misadventure was recorded by Coroner Michael Moyle, at a resumed inquest.
In evidence, marshals said there were no visible signs Mr Crellin was in trouble.
He crashed into the stone wall just after the 27th milestone and was thrown into the air, landing about 150 yards away from the initial impact.
His bike was thrown over the wall and landed and estimated 50 yards down the mountainside.
Mr Moyle said it would never be known exactly what caused the crash, as nails didn't necessarily lead to loss of pressure in tyres.
He added that taking part in high speed sport was legal on the Isle of Man, and all the competitors were aware of the risks.
