by isleofman.com 15th July 2009

Employees of Barclays Wealth on the Island were amongst the 175-strong Isle of Man team competing at the XIII Island Games in Aland, from 27th June to 4th July.

Grant Dawson, football goalkeeper and Daniel O'Hare, badminton player both represented the Island.

The men’s football team progressed well through the heats but were unlucky to lose 5-0 to Guernsey in the Bronze place play-off.

In the badminton, Daniel made it to the second rounds of the singles and doubles events, and in the team event the Isle of Man was pipped 3-2 by Jersey in the semi-final play off.

Greg Ellison, Managing Director, said ‘We were delighted to give our fullest support and encouragement, both in terms of time and funding, to the members of Barclays Wealth staff participating and indeed all the teams at this important event in the Island’s varied and full sporting calendar.’
