Celtic Christian celebration at Kirk Maughold 31 July

Plans for the Kirk Maughold patronal festival on Friday 31st July, St Maughold's Day, have been released. Centred around Kirk Maughold Church and the Parish Hall the day includes talks by various speakers during the afternoon, a buffet tea and an outdoor Sung Eucharist lead by the Lord Bishop.

 

Throughout the day there will be an exhibition 'Maughold through the ages 1580 to 2009' in the Church and Parish Hall.  All outdoor events are subject to alteration in the event of adverse weather.

 

Full Programme.

2.45 pm Meet at church gates for a 3.00 pm pilgrimage to St Maughold's Well, sprinkling, with prayers for healing and introductory talks by Rev. Ian Faulds and Marinda Fargher. Please note that access to the well involves a steep slope and walkers take part at their own risk. Sensible footwear must be worn.

4.15 pm Talk in the Church by Dr Lily Mo 'The Viking Raid on St Maughold: a glimpse into mediaeval sainthood'.

5.00 pm Buffet Tea in Parish Hall ?5.00

7.00 pm Outdoor Sung Celtic Eucharist in the north keeill situated in the churchyard.  Celebrated by the Lord Bishop this will be based on ancient liturgies.
