Manx police work with authorities in Thailand

by isleofman.com 14th July 2009

Police in the Isle of Man say they have been in close contact with the Foreign and Commonwealth Office in Thailand, following the death of 14 year-old Nathan Griffiths in a swimming pool accident in Thailand on Friday.

They have also spoken to his father, who was in Pattaya with him when the accident happened, to help with arrangements to bring his body back to the Island.

Manx police say the full circumstances surrounding Nathan's death are not known, and some of the speculation in the media has been inaccurate. Enquiries are continuing with the Thai authorities and Nathan's family, to establish exactly what happened.

Meanwhile, Nathan's mother - Marion, who lives in Douglas - is said to have been overwhelmed by the hundreds of messages sent to her, and left on Nathan's page on the Facebook social networking site.

She is thanking people for their kind support.
