Murder trial - jury set to retire

by isleofman.com 14th July 2009

The Arizona Devine Watterson murder trial is entering its closing stages.

After hearing evidence for two weeks, the twelve jurors will today be asked by Acting Deemster Turner to retire to consider their verdict.

Miss Watterson, who is 28, denies murdering Billy Rogers, also 28, in her flat, in Clifton Terrace, Douglas in March last year.

The prosecution maintains she intended to kill Mr Rogers when she inflicted a fatal stab wound to his chest.

The defence says they were play-fighting, and he stumbled onto a ceremonial dagger.

The jurors spent yesterday listening to His Honour's summing up of the case.
