The tragic death of an Island teenager features in many of today’s UK newspapers.

Fourteen-year-old Nathan Griffiths drowned in a swimming pool accident in Thailand on Friday.

He was on holiday with his father, brother, stepbrother and stepmother in the resort of Pattaya when it’s understood he was sucked into a swimming pool vent.

It is thought he lost his goggles at the bottom of the pool and tried to remove an unsecured grille to fetch them before he was swept into the pool’s pump system.

It’s alleged that lifeguards initially failed to help because they did not believe that the grille could be moved.

Nathan’s mother Marion, who lives in Douglas, has strongly rejected many of the claims made about the incident in the Thai media.

It’s also reported that Thai cameramen tried to film Nathan's body on the floor of the pump room before his father hit out and that police have ordered the cameramen receive ?220 in compensation.

His family are now working with the British Embassy in Bangkok to bring his body back to the Isle of Man, where a service will be held.

Nathan had been due to return to the Island on Wednesday after having spent a year out in Thailand at an international school.
