Yn Chruinnaght 2009 underway

by isleofman.com 12th July 2009

The Isle of Man's largest inter-Celtic event is underway and this year there are a few notable changes.

The Yn Chruinnaght festival is intended to be a celebration of Manx culture and the Island's relation with other Celtic countries.

The focus for proceedings was traditionally in Ramsey but this year there'll be events all round the Island and many of them are free.

For the first time as well as music and dance, there will also be films, taking the festival firmly into the 21st century.

Manx Music Development Officer for the Manx Heritage Foundation Breeshey Maddrell hopes the week will open people's minds to new experiences.

The festival will run until next Sunday, July 19.
