Decision awaited on patient transfer contract

Local airline Manx2.com saw the last plane from its patient transfer service, between the Isle of Man and Chester, touch down at Ronaldsway yesterday (Friday) evening.

The company has had the contract since January to fly patients to the United Kingdom for medical appointments.

But the agreement has expired and hasn't been renewed, with officials at the Department of Health and Social Security saying they will make an announcement about who will take over the service by the end of next week.

Chairman of Manx2.com Noel Hayes says it's been extremely satisfying to help so many people during the past six months:
