Tickets for the Michael McIntyre show at the Villa Marina on Tuesday 11th August 2009 have sold at a rate unprecedented for a visiting comedian.
There were, however, technical problems with the Villa Marina website and, as a result of massive demand, the website was unable to cope with the internet traffic and had to be closed down.
The Department apologises to its Internet customers for this interruption to its normal service.
All tickets available for sale in person at the Villa Marina and Welcome Centre, and via the telephone hotline, have now been sold out.
However, the tickets reserved for internet sales remain available. These tickets will be put on sale at a time, date, venue to be announced in the near future.
The Department hopes that customers who have unsuccessfully attempted to buy tickets via the internet will, with the release of the internet tickets for personal sales in the near future, get a further opportunity to obtain tickets for this event.
Dawn Maddrell, the Department’s Head of Arts and Entertainment commented, 'Whilst there have been some technical problems, we have sold over 1100 tickets to the Manx public in just over an hour and a quarter.
'I understand the frustration of people unable to purchase tickets; however, with such high demand for a show with limited seats available this is unavoidable.'
