Fraudsters target businesses

by isleofman.com 9th July 2009

Businesses in the Isle of Man are being warned to look out for scam invoices.

The Office of Fair Trading says firms should check invoices seeking payment for goods and services which the business has not actually received.

The fraudsters' idea is that staff are often too busy to carry out checks, and might miss such a scam.

OFT officials say the invoices are often for advertising in publications or wall charts which claim to support the emergency services or charities.
