A 19 year-old man who smashed a pub window in Douglas with a wooden stake, terrifying drinkers and shoppers, has been jailed.
Ronald Justin Heald of Victoria Road, had been drinking with two friends when he was asked to leave Sam Webbs in Castle Street, during the afternoon on Saturday, May 2.
A short time later he went back and was again asked to leave by the landlord.
Heald had a wooden stake and shouted at people drinking inside to move before smashing a window with it.
Jason Roberts reports (text, below, from attached audio file):
Heald told the court he had been drinking with friends and had had 15 or 16 pints by the time of the incident at 3.30pm.
His advocate said nobody had been endangered because of his actions, which High Bailiff Michael Moyle said was due to good luck rather than planning.
Mr Moyle described it as a deliberate and violent attack, and sentenced Heald to 42 days in prison.
He also made an 18-month order banning Heald from entering licenced premises or being sold alcohol.
