Trip of a lifetime for Belarus youngsters

by isleofman.com 9th July 2009

Dozens of children from the Eastern European country of Belarus will arrive on the Island tomorrow to start a month-long holiday.

The group has been brought here by the Isle of Man Friends of Chernobyl's Children which provides an annual break from the poverty and pollution of their home country.

It's the tenth year the charity has arranged the trip, and organiser Norman Rivers says it's been a battle with red tape to make sure it happens this year.

However, all that has been overcome, and there will be plenty for the children to do when they get here.
