Chief Minister congratulates Island Games squad

by isleofman.com 9th July 2009

Chief Minister Tony Brown has congratulated the Isle of Man team for its success in the NatWest Island Games in Aland.

The Manx finished second overall out of 25 teams with only the Faroe Islands bettering their medal haul of 29 gold, 30 silver and 29 bronze.

In a letter to team manager Jill Gillings, Mr Brown says the team have all been 'great ambassadors for the Island'.

He wrote: 'To achieve this level of success across so many sports bears testimony to the breadth and depth of talent amongst the Island’s sportsmen and women and I know that the whole of the Isle of Man is proud of their achievements'.
