Queenie Competition Winners Join Festivities

by isleofman.com 8th July 2009

The Isle of Man Queenie Festival celebrations went with a swing at the ‘Love Your Beach’ event last Friday evening, 3rd July, which took place on Port Erin Beach.

Guests of honours for the evening were Jill and Mark Drinkall and their two daughters, Harriet and Charlotte, from Lancaster, who were winners of Island Seafare Queenie Festival and Marine Day competition prize draw.

They won a two-night break on the Island courtesy of the Isle of Man Department of Tourism and Leisure.

TV Celebrity chefs Mitch Tonks and Mark Hix attended the event and served up a barbeque on the beach.

There was also a variety of entertainment during the evening, including beach games, the Scallop Shell open water swims and a live samba band.

Jill Drinkall said ‘Mark and I were pleased to win a holiday to such a beautiful place as the Isle of Man and would like to say a big thank-you to the Department of Tourism and Leisure and Island Seafare for a wonderful weekend.

'Harriet and Charlotte really enjoyed playing on the lovely sandy beach at Port Erin and have expressed a wish to visit again soon –preferably this weekend!’
