One of the biggest days out of the Manx summer, The Medis It’s a Knockout Challenge 2009, will take place on Sunday, July 12th, at
Noble’s Park, Douglas.
The Challenge, now in its fourth year, is one of the Island’s most successful fund raising events, and involves teams of between 6-10 people competing in a fund raising day based on the famous, or infamous, 'It’s a Knockout' television series.
Any company, organisation, or group of individuals can enter a team. Last year, many of the Island’s top companies took part and a team from the Isle of Man Children’s Centre emerged as the overall winner.
Last year, ?9,884.20 was raised for local charities and, this year, the Isle of Man Children’s Centre and Wish Upon a Dream will benefit from the day’s fundraising efforts.
The titles of the games give some idea of what’s in store for the contestants: The Wedge; Air Dancer Tunnels, and Squeezies.
The teams aren’t the only ones to have fun; members of the public are welcome to come along to watch the games.
There’s also a wealth of other entertainment on offer, including an Inflatable Noah’s Ark, plus a whole host of sideshows, and stalls selling food and drink.
The day will end at around 4pm with presentations to the winning team.
According to Emma Druggan of Medis, this year’s event is likely to be the biggest yet: 'We have over 30 teams signed up. It’s fantastic
fun for the teams, and for the spectators, plus it’s all in a good cause, raising money for charity.'
The Medis It's a Knockout Challenge 2009 starts at 1pm and entrance is free.
