Council won't sell land to tennis club

A Douglas tennis club has had to abandon expansion plans, which it had hoped to achieve by buying or leasing land owned by the Borough Council.

The Albany club hoped to create new facilities by taking over part of the adjacent Ballaughton Nurseries.

However, it has been told the land is fully planted out, and if it wasn't available it would cost ?20,000 a year to buy the plants grown there.

Leisure Services Committee chairman Stephen Pitts says the matter was given due consideration:
