Ramsey reach Tinker Cup final

by isleofman.com 6th July 2009

The dynamic Ollie Webster has powered Ramsey through to the final of the Tinker Cup.

The northerners were confident of beating Crosby in yesterday’s semi-final, but were soon struggling.

Tight bowling from the Marown side pinned back the cup holders to 81 for 3 from 23 overs.

Then skipper Rob Webber joined Webster and the pair smashed an amazing 169 runs in the remaining 17 overs.

At the end Webber was on 65 not out and Webster had bludgeoned a breathtaking 117.

The talented all-rounder then opened the bowling with a fiery spell of five overs in which he took four wickets for just ten runs.

The Marown innings ended in high drama when young Sean Kelly entered the attack.

He only bowled four balls, but took a hat-trick to end the Crosby resistance.

In the final, Ramsey will meet the winners of this coming Sunday's semi between St John’s and Castletown.
