Festival moves towards spectacular climax

Flaming torches and burning boats will provide plenty of excitement in Peel today (Sunday), when Viking re-enactors burn their longship on the beach.

It's day two of this year's Viking Festival, based next to the town's campsite.

Visitors have been getting a taste of life in the tenth century with a series of demonstrations in the Viking village, including a working blacksmith, a wood carver and a chainmail maker.

Tonight the Vikings will stage their Son et Lumiere spectacular, with torchlight parades from Peel Castle and Peel Hill to the burning of the Viking boat.
