by isleofman.com 3rd July 2009

A ?4.2 million pound Elderly Mentally Infirm Unit is officially open at Farmhill in Douglas.

The 32-bed facility was initially put on hold due to a lack of funding, but the Department of Health later went ahead with the scheme.

Health Minister Eddie Teare says it will go some way to coping with future need for residential and respite care.

The wording on the plaque says:

"Thie Meanagh was officially opened on 3rd July, 2009 by Mr Dudley Butt, MLC.

"It has been designed to provide a homely dwelling and day care for the people of Mann."
