Fond memories of Mollie Sugden

Tributes are being paid to star of stage and screen Mollie Sugden who died yesterday, aged 86.

She was a regular performer at the Gaiety Theatre and, after falling in love with the Isle of Man, bought a house in Port St Mary.

She shot to fame as Mrs Slocombe in the BBC's Are You Being Served? where her double entendres made her an instant hit.

Manx Radio's Geraldine Jamieson became a close friend when Mrs Sugden lived on the Island and remembers her fondly:
