'Passive homes' could be built soon

The Manx government is hoping to start building environmentally-friendly 'passive homes' in the near future.

One of the inventors of passive heating, Hans Eek, has been on the Island, talking to officials and construction industry representatives about the groundbreaking building style.

Passive heating involves storing energy so a home can be heated at a constant temperature, using a fraction of the energy of central heating.

Environment Minister John Shimmin hopes to have some test houses built soon:
