Union impressed by public transport system

A union leader at the RMT's national conference in Douglas says the way the Isle of Man runs its public transport should be held up as an example to the United Kingdom.

The Rail, Maritime and Transport Workers Union was invited to the Island by the local branch, whose members work in the shipping industry.

Offshore jurisdictions are not the natural choice of socialist-leaning organisations and it's the first time a trade union has held its national conference in the Island.

Regional Organiser for the north-west John Tilley says delegates were impressed to see the Island's public transport system had not fallen into private hands:
