Suspended sentence for man who wanted jail

by isleofman.com 1st July 2009

A man who punched another outside the Paragon restaurant at the Hilton Hotel has been given a suspended prison sentence.

Twenty-eight year-old Jonathon Andrew Mellor, of Springfield Avenue in Douglas, was arrested on June 11 at the premises.

He had been involved in an argument with two other men, and admitted lashing out and punching one of them.

Mellor also admitted being drunk and disorderly on May 12 when he threw a bag at police, saying he wanted to go to jail.

High Bailiff Michael Moyle imposed a six months sentence, suspended for 18 months

He also made an anti-social behaviour order banning Mellor from on-licensed premises for two years.
