Library to Host an Evening with Mike Seed

by isleofman.com 1st July 2009

Local singer-songwriter Mike Seed will perform a selection of his songs during an informal evening at the Henry Bloom Noble Library in Douglas on 16th July.

Mike will also be talking about his musical inspirations and influences over the past 25 years and inviting questions from the audience.

Mike Seed has recorded as a solo artist and been a key figure in several bands and collaborations. He has released a number of albums on his own Skimpy Records label, and has also worked on albums by local label SVC Records and American label AntiClock.

Borough librarian Jan Macartney said ‘An Evening with Mike Seed is something of a departure from other evening events at the library and is part of our drive to appeal to as wide an audience as possible.

Mike’s style of music has been described as 'strange and experimental', 'gloriously pop' and 'dark folk' and I’m sure his songs and recollections of his life in music will make for a fascinating evening.’

An Evening with Mike Seed is on Thursday 16th July at 7.30pm. Admission is free and includes light refreshments sponsored by Clerical Medical International. Due to limited space, tickets must be collected in advance from the ground floor counter of the library.
