There are no plans to levy extra taxes on the Island’s phone lines to pay for broadband infrastructure.
So said Treasury Minister Allan Bell in the House of Keys this morning (Tuesday), when Rushen MHK Juan Watterson asked if the Island would follow the UK’s lead.
There, a ?6 a year tax has been proposed to pay for high-speed internet lines in rural areas.
But Mr Bell said the Island is already well-served for broadband and there were no plans to adopt the UK’s plans.
