A Douglas woman accused of murder has gone on trial in Douglas Courthouse.
Arizona Devine Watterson, 28, of Clifton Terrace denies murdering William James Rogers – known as Billy - in March last year.
Mr Rogers died at Noble’s Hospital following an incident at Miss Watterson’s home.
After a jury was sworn in in front of Acting Deemster Turner, the court heard an opening address from the crown.
Stuart Neale said it was their contention that Arizona Devine Watterson had murdered Billy Rogers by stabbing him in the chest with a ceremonial dagger.
During his address, the court heard a harrowing account of an emergency services call made by Watterson on the evening of the alleged murder.
She was heard screaming that blood was streaming out of a stab wound on Billy Roger's chest and that he was going to die. She's heard to claim he had been stabbed in the street by someone.
She later named the man as a Christopher Blakeley but after he was released following questioning, she changed her story again and said she'd stabbed Billy by mistake whilst they were play fighting in the flat.
The trial is continuing and is expected to last up to three weeks.
