Minister to be questioned on 'TTXGP concert'

Questions are being asked in the House of Keys today about the decision to hold a concert by the London Metropolitan Orchestra in the Villa Marina, as part of the programme of entertainment for the TT.

The event, which celebrated the inaugural clean emissions TTXGP, was poorly attended.

Rushen MHK Quintin Gill will be raising the issue, with questions for Tourism and Leisure Minister Martyn Quayle.

On Agenda last night, Mr Gill said the Arts Council was asked for ?20,000 to support the concert, but decided not to do so.

However, according to Mr Gill, Mr Quayle went ahead and took the money from the Arts Council's budget and gave it to the promoters.
