by isleofman.com 29th June 2009

The Isle of Man's young gymnasts have picked up a medal at the Island Games in Aland.

The women's team took the silver in the floor and vault competition.

Bermuda won the event, with the bronze going to the Faroe Islands.

At that stage the Isle of Man had one gold medal, two silvers and a bronze.

Manx Archers also did well, with some new games records being set during competition this morning.

In the heats of the 400 metre hurdles, Michael Haslett was second in a time of 57.51 to qualify for tonight's final.

Manx swimmer Grant Halsall set a new Island Games record in the men's 50 metres backstroke.

Not surprisingly, he won his heat this morning in a time of 26.28 seconds.
