Forty-five years after Manx Radio started broadcasting, the occasion will be marked by a ceremony today, at the spot where it all began.
A plaque will be unveiled on the gate pillar of a property in Onchan which has been built on the site occupied by the Manx Radio caravan, from which the first broadcast was made, on June 29, 1964.
Today's event has been organised by Onchan Commissioners, in recognition of the links between the station and the village.
The very first Manx Radio broadcast was a commentary from the 1964 TT.
On the Sunday Opinion programme yesterday, one member of the commentary team, Ian Cannell, said he didn't realise he was on the air (play attached audio file):
Location and time of unveiling ceremony: Hillberry Road, Onchan at 10am.
Manx Radio is inviting anybody with an interest in the station to attend the ceremony.
