Crossag hearing today

by isleofman.com 25th June 2009

A Tynwald Select Committee will hear evidence on the Crossag Farm Development today (Thursday).

Brenda Cannell MHK, David Callister MLC and Graham Cregeen MHK will be investigating details of a contract between J.G Kelly and the Department of Local Government and the Environment.

It centres around plans for a development in Ballasalla which would have increased its population by 30 per cent.

The plans for more than 250 homes were originally turned down by a planning inspector in January 2008 because it was thought there was a shortage of infrastructure such as drainage, schools and roads which would be needed by new residents.

Builders J.G Kelly dropped plans to go to court over a failed petition of doleance which challenged the decision refusing planning permission for the development.

The select committee was formed after it was discovered Government had agreed to buy back the land from the developer.

The committee today will hear evidence from the assistant financial controller at the Treasury and then the Chief Executive of DLGE, Ken Kinrade.

Evidence will be heard in the Millennium Room at the Legislative Buildings at 10am.
