by isleofman.com 23rd June 2009

Manx veterans have gathered in Douglas to witness the raising of a flag to celebrate those who have served, or are currently serving, in Britain's armed forces.

The flag will fly from a pole in Lord Street for a week, to mark UK Armed Forces Day on June 27.

It will be flown again on July 26, when the Isle of Man holds a similar commemoration. .

Brigadier Norman Butlet says it's a chance for people in the Island to express their thanks for the services, but also for the armed forces to show their appreciation for the Isle of Man's support.
