Council progresses allotment plans

The creation of 50 allotments within the boundary of the new lawn cemetery in Douglas has moved a step forward.

A planning application for approval in principle has been submitted for the scheme, on land at the top of Johnny Watterson's Lane.

The allotments would be in two different sizes and would be offered to Douglas residents first, hopefully before the end of the year.

Chairman of the Borough Council's Leisure Services Committee Stephen Pitts says it's an exciting project and he's expecting a lot of interest from green-fingered rate payers:
