Cornet player wins top music prize

This year's Young Musician of Mann is Megan Quane from Ramsey.

She won the final of the competition, held at the Erin Arts Centre on Sunday afternoon.

Fifteen year-old Megan, who is a member of Ramsey Town Band, plays the B flat cornet.

She received the Joyce Gelling memorial prize of ?200, and goblets presented by the Rotary Club of Rushen and Western Mann and the Isle of Man Arts Council.

Seventeen year-old clarinet player Alison Hines was second and won ?100.
