Officials study UK report on digital technologies

by isleofman.com 22nd June 2009

The recently published 'Digital Britain' report is being studied by communications officials, to see which parts of it could impact on the Isle of Man.

Among other things, the document recommends universal broadband access in the United Kingdom - something which the Isle of Man already enjoys.

Director of the Communications Commission Dr Carmel McLaughlin says we can learn from our near neighbour, but we have our own regulations for broadcasting and telecommunications and don't have to follow anybody.

The Communications commission is carrying out a similar review to 'Digital Britain' at present.
