Further activity at demolition site

by isleofman.com 19th June 2009

A second property has been demolished in Circular Road, Douglas.

Work on bringing down the derelict former private residence began yesterday evening, after the emergency road closure order was extended by the Department of Transport.

It's understood the poor condition of number 63 led to the decision to knock it down.

Number 61 - a former news agent's shop alongside the government's Rose House - was demolished when it became unsafe after partially collapsing on Wednesday morning.

A section of Circular Road was expected to remain closed to traffic this morning, while contractors JCK continued to clear the site.
