Sentence on a 24 year-old man who threatened his mother with a knife and a hammer has been adjourned by High Bailiff Michael Moyle for reports.
Gavin Paul Frankel, of Cronk-y-Berry Avenue in Douglas, admitted two charges of possessing a prohibited article in a public place, provoking behaviour, taking a vehicle without the owner's consent, drink-driving, driving while disqualified and not having insurance.
Police officers went to Frankel’s home on June 8, following a call from his mother.
He'd had an argument with her, then took his girlfriend's car and drove off.
The court heard he returned and argued with her again, this time threatening her with a seven-inch bread knife and a claw hammer.
He took the vehicle again and left it a short distance from Cronk-y-Berry Avenue, by which time police had arrived.
He was subsequently arrested.
Appearing drunk and emotional, Frankel provided samples which showed a blood/alcohol level of 271 milligrammes, almost three-and-a-half times the legal limit.
He was remanded in custody until July 7.
