Minister to help launch 'Best of Manx' food comp

by isleofman.com 18th June 2009

A new competition to showcase the best recipes using Manx produce will be launched at a town centre store in Douglas tomorrow.

The 'I Love ManxChef' initiative is a chance for all chefs with an interest in Manx food to display mouth-watering dishes created from local ingredients.

The Hairy Bikers will select the winner at the Island's Food and Drink Festival in September.

The contest will be kicked off by Phil Gawne, MHK, and Ray Craine, from the Manx National Farmers' Union, cooking some of their own dishes in the food hall at Marks and Spencer's tomorrow lunchtime.

Mr Craine says, from the amatuer to the professional, what they're looking for is enthusiasm (play audio file):

Further details are available from manx-nfu.org the website of the Manx National Farmers' Union.
