Keeping children happy, healthy and safe

by isleofman.com 18th June 2009

A major initiative to keep children in the Isle of Man healthy and safe is being launched this afternoon.

The idea of the Children's Plan is to ensure there is an integrated approach to all issues relating to young people, from the departments of education, home affairs and health, and other agencies.

The plan stems from a document called 'Children's Services: An Update', which was published last September.

It sets out how government, police and voluntary organisations can work together for the benefit of the Island's young people.

Its vision is to keep children safe and healthy, enable them to enjoy their lives, and achieve and prosper.

The initiative covers many issues, including bullying, healthy eating and recreational activities such as sport, and young people have been consulted on new services they would like to see.
