A member of Tynwald is claiming the government is failing to stand by its principles of openness and transparency when it comes to the employment of certain staff.
Eddie Lowey, MLC, has raised questions about the appointment of former director of Manx National Heritage Stephen Harrison as the Island's cultural ambassador.
Mr Lowey believes that as everyone from committee members to the Lieutenant Governor have to apply for their jobs publicly, it's wrong that this post wasn't advertised.
He also has concerns about whether Mr Harrison's appointment represents a conflict of interest, because it's alleged he is also working as a consultant for one of the Channel Islands.
In Tynwald, Tourism Minister Martyn Quayle defended the decision to put Mr Harrison in charge of spearheading a national cultural tourism strategy, saying his department was severely understaffed and the appointment helped move things forward.
Mr Lowey maintains things have not been handled correctly in this instance, although he denies his opposition is personal:
