by isleofman.com 16th June 2009

A woman awarded an MBE for her 53 years service to the St John Ambulance has dedicated her award to the members of the organisation.

Joan Radcliffe, from Willaston, says she has had many happy years working at events around the Island and has no intentions of retiring.

She joined her local group to follow the man who was later to become her husband.

Joan, who is 73, says helping people comes naturally to her (play audio file):

The award will be presented at a ceremony on the Island later this year.
