Post office Gift to MotoGP Legend

Multiple MotoGP Champion Valentino Rossi received a special limited edition print of himself featuring two stamps of TT legend Giacomo Agostini from Isle of Man Post Office on Monday.

 

The presentation to Valentino was made during his short visit to the Isle of Man by Tourism and Leisure Minister Martyn Quayle MHK at the TT Grandstand, Douglas.

 

Prints were also presented to Giacomo Agostini and Mr Lino Dainese by Vice Chairman of Isle of Man Post Office Geoff Corkish MBE MHK.

 

The A4 sized print is a limited edition of 500 and shows Valentino in action on his Fiat Yamaha machine, along with stamps depicting fellow Italian Giacomo Agostini with special cancellations. The world exclusive print was issued to mark Giacomo and Valentino’s historic lap of the TT course to celebrate TT 2009.

 

Dot Tilbury, General Manager Philatelic Bureau, Isle of Man Post Office, said 'This was a magical day for the Isle of Man. Valentino Rossi is a motorcycling super star and his visit to the Isle of Man is the stuff dreams are made of.

 

'Valentino and Agostini’s lap of honour around the famous TT mountain circuit will travel around the world and add another exciting chapter in the history of the Isle of Man TT.'

 

The print, which is selling fast, is priced ?15 and is available to buy from Regent Street Post Shop, Douglas, and from Duke Video, Castle Street, Douglas.
