The Isle of Man has its first case of Swine Flu.
On the day the World Health Organisation increased the alert level to six - indicating a full, worldwide pandemic - the DHSS has confirmed a person has tested positive for the H1N1 virus and is being treated with the drug Tamiflu.
The infected person had recently visited one of the large number of countries all over the world where the virus has been reported.
However, due to the rules of medical confidentiality, no other information is being released.
Director of Public Health Dr Parameswaran Kishore says the arrival of Swine Flu on the Island was inevitable, and there is absolutely no need to panic.
He says the advice is the same as before, in that anybody who suspects they might be infected should contact their GP by telephone and arrange to be screened.
Good hygiene practices should continue to be followed at all times.
