DTI defends Venda decision

The chief executive of the Department of Trade and Industry is defending the decision to exclude local firms from the tendering process for the job of creating an online shopping portal for Isle of Man businesses.

The decision to give the work to Venda, one of Europe's biggest e-commerce providers, has been criticised in the House of Keys and by local e- businesses.

However, Chris Corlett says research indicated there wasn't a suitable local company which could have taken on the role (play audio file):
