Gibb brothers to be honoured in their birthplace

Proud to be Manx and proud to be coming back!

That's the view of Bee Gee Robin Gibb after it was announced the group are to be made freemen of the Borough of Douglas.

The council will bestow the honour on the famous brothers at a ceremony in the town hall, next month.

Robin, who has a home in the west of the Island, will be attending the event, and Barry Gibb will travel over from his home in America to take part in the ceremony.

The third member of the group - Maurice, who died in January 2003 - will be represented by his widow and son.

Council leader David Christian is delighted the brothers have accepted the honour, and says it's important they are officially recognised in their birthplace:
