New technology planned for Douglas car parks

Motorists in Douglas will soon be able to purchase 'pay and display' parking tickets by credit card.

Douglas Borough Council is to introduce state of the art machines, on a trial basis, at Shaw's Brow car park, with a view to bringing in the technology at other locations if it is a success.

It follows a visit by council representatives to a big exhibition in Birmingham, which featured the latest in street furniture, CCTV systems, decorative paving, railings and other products of interest to local authorities.

Works Committee chairman Councillor Ritchie McNicholl says the new ticket dispensers are very versatile:
